I am a writer, word-nerd, researcher, and editor who enjoys helping people to express themselves effectively. Although I began my career in the health care industry I realized rather quickly that I was much more interested in hearing my clients’ stories than I was in prescribing raised toilet seats.
In 2003 I summoned up the courage to return to school and completed an Honours BA in Creative Writing and English at York University. I enjoyed the experience so much that in 2008 I accepted a scholarship and returned to York to complete a Masters in English Literature. After I graduated I decided that I would rather pursue writing than academia.
Since 2009 I have been a freelance writer and editor and have written articles for newspapers, magazines, websites, small businesses, and non-profit organizations. I have also done manuscript reviews, research and copy-editing.
The interviewing and analytical skills that I developed while working in the health field have served me well in my new role as a writer and editor. I pride myself on being an excellent listener, and on my ability to help people generate ideas and become clear about what they want to say.
When I’m not writing I love to read, teach yoga and meditation, and enjoy time at home with my husband and cats. I also write for fun.
I am currently Vice-President of the Writers’ Community of York Region and I serve on the Board of Directors of The Toronto Centre of Gravity Buddhist Association.
